Position Information
Fleet Services is looking for a skilled Courier who will support the department by transporting vehicles and equipment, including radios, parts and other equipment, for service, maintenance and/or repair.  This is a part-time position working within the hours of 8:30am - 3:00pm.

The City of Aurora will conduct ongoing screenings of applications on a first-come, first-serve basis.  As soon as we determine to have a qualified pool of applicants, this position may close quickly and without notice.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to city departments by transporting vehicles, repair parts, supplies and equipment;
  • Wash and fuel vehicles/equipment as needed;
  • Inspect vehicles/equipment for body damage while identifying other potential safety problems;
  • Complete reports and maintain records;
  • May handle firearms and/or ammunition;
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:  

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience:  
  • 12 months of manual labor experience

Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements on a year for year basis.

Licenses and Certifications: 
  • Driver's License
  • Commercial Driver's License is desired

Working Conditions

Physical Demands:
Moderate physical work requiring ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; considerable walking and standing; frequent pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and stooping; hand/foot coordination for operation of vehicle; vision to read and interpret written information; speech communication, hearing, and listening for communication with employees and citizens.

Work Environment:
Works both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Equipment Used:
Operates motorized vehicles, power-washers, compressors, and other tools as necessary.
