City Attorney's Office, Criminal Division
The Criminal Division handles prosecution of all ordinance violations, misdemeanors, and petty offenses filed in the Aurora Municipal Courts.  The mission of our Criminal Division is to enhance public safety and to achieve justice through the effective prosecution of municipal offenses.    

The City of Aurora will conduct ongoing screenings of applications on a first-come, first-serve basis; as soon as we determine to have a qualified pool of applicants, this position may close quickly and without notice.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Office Manager/Administrative Supervisor will manage a team of administrative staff that supports 15-20 attorneys, prosecuting 45,000 criminal cases per year. He/she will manage, monitor, and enhance the office workflow as well as supervise and manage the administrative staff.  He/she will be the primary contact for vendors, external partners and agencies, and other City departments.  He/she must possess a high attention to detail and be able to effectively work in an office environment that has a high volume of work.

  • Manages administrative support staff, including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures
  • Provide direction and support for office level goals and recommend and implement best practices in the office to ensure highest quality services
  • Prepares, administers, and tracks budgets and expenditures, while monitoring project timelines and budgets
  • Serves as key contact for vendors, external partners/agencies, and other City departments, including high level or confidential correspondence
  • Plans, implements, and oversees administrative support services to maintain and improve efficient office workers
  • Prepares, reviews, proofs, and processes a variety of departmental documents and reports
  • Prepares regulatory and other department reports
  • Oversees staffing special projects
  • Ability to assess processes and create solutions both in electronic record keeping and workflow and management
  • Make work assessment to ensure work is distributed evenly among team members
  • Makes decisions as to the interpretation of City policies and procedures
  • Composes and types high level or confidential correspondence
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


  • Associates Degree. Master of Science in Legal Administration (MSLA) Degree or Certificate, preferred

  • 5 years of administrative support experience. Supervisory or managerial experience preferred. Law Office experience required.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

  • Knowledge of Business English and math
  • General knowledge of personal computers and related word processing software applications
  • Broad knowledge of the organization and focused on productivity and innovation

  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related word processing software applications
  • Accurately and efficiently processes information using a keyboard

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Licenses and Certifications:
As assigned, specialized certifications may be required, such as:
  • Driver's License
  • Notary Public
  • Certified Records Manager (CRM)

Working Conditions

Physical Demands: 

  • Primarily sedentary physical work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 10 pounds
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing
  • Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer and office equipment
  • Vision for reading, recording, and interpreting information
  • Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens.

Work Environment: 
  • Works primarily in clean, comfortable environment.

Equipment Used: 
  • Frequently uses computer and standard office equipment.
