The Aurora Fire Rescue is looking for a highly technical individual to maintain, monitor, and review their Kronos/Telestaff scheduling software.  The qualified candidate will coordinate the training, maintenance and upgrade of selected Fire Rescue software applications to include the scheduling Records Management System (RMS) and other Fire Rescue support systems.  As well as develop supporting documentation for system enhancements and new technology initiatives.

This is a full time position working 40 hours a week with the flexibility of working Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, or four 10 hour days.  Other benefits include: Kaiser Health plan, Dental and Vision, private office, 24 hour access to onsite Fitness Center, onsite Federal Credit Union and City Cafe, and centrally located just minutes from RTD R Line (Aurora Metro Center Station).

Under the Fire Chief , Command Staff and Community Engagement,  Aurora Fire Rescue is separated into four divisions:
  • Emergency Services - Staffing, Special Operations, Field Operations, Fire Districts
  • Professional Development and Personnel Support - Health and Safety, Professional Development, Training, Fire Academy
  • Inspections and Investigations - Internal Affairs, Investigations and Inspections
  • Management Services - Payroll, Procurement, Quartermaster

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain, monitor, and review Kronos/Telestaff scheduling software for Aurora Fire Rescue
  • Maintain a high level of user expertise for other selected department software applications
  • Work with Battalion Chiefs to ensure daily attendance records are accurately recorded and finalized
  • Update Telestaff with promotions, reassignments, new hires, and shift bids
  • Verify and track various leave types including FMLA, Military Leave, etc.
  • Design, coordinate, and maintain user training programs for departmental software applications
  • Monitor system performance and performs proactive systems integrity checks to ensure systems are operating per established policies and procedures
  • Work with users to maximize the effectiveness of the system features
  • Analyze user requirements to determine system needs
  • Serve as department lead to identify and request additional features, upgrades and new solutions to the departments operational technology needs
  • Research and evaluate additional software modules, upgrades and new technologies prior to the implementation of new applications and upgrades to existing systems
  • Coordinate hardware and software implementations with support vendors
  • Perform user system administrator functions to include the establishment and maintenance of system security protocols
  • Report system problems and issues to appropriate IT and vendor contacts, and monitor the status of solutions to the reported problems and issues
  • Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field

Experience: 
  • At least 2 years progressively responsible related experience in computer systems management
Preferred:
  •  Fire Rescue experience
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Licenses and Certifications: 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate (preferred)
  • Valid Colorado Driver License
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of computerized scheduling systems, Records Management Systems, and software security
  • Familiarity with Microsoft products, SQL and Crystal Reports
  • Understanding of Fire Rescue practices and project management principles
Abilities:
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, customers, and other City departments
  • Ability to handle situations with tack and diplomacy
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and fulfill goals and objectives
  • Ability to proactively research, analyze, present recommendations and when appropriate, implement computer system changes and upgrades that may be initiated by a variety of sources including staff, management and vendors
Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and oral and written communication skills
  • Strong assessment and problem solving skills
  • Advance skill in the use of personal computers, including spreadsheets, database management and word processing

WORKING CONDITIONS


Physical Demands:

  • Primarily sedentary physical work requiring ability to lift 25 pounds with or without assistance
  • Occasional lifting 10 pounds overhead, carrying, walking and standing
  • Frequent hand/eye coordination for operation of office equipment
  • Vision for reading and interpreting reports and data analysis and preparation
  • Frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communication with employees and citizens

Work Environment:
  • Normally works in a clean, comfortable environment
  • System support issues may require working outside of the office environment and in or around emergency response vehicles
  
Equipment Used:
  • Uses standard business and professional tools and equipment including computers, laptops and mobile computing devices
  • Capable of driving between City supported buildings and to meetings in the City of Aurora
  • This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment
  • System support issues may require working outside of the office environment and in or around emergency response vehicles
