- Summary of Job Duties
Instructor for basic meditation classes for 18+ adults participating in classes at the Aurora Center for Active Adults.
Hours: 12- hours per quarter, scheduled on Wednesdays, one time a week, in one hour sessions. Dates of classes: June 5th- Jul.17th; July 24th-Aug. 28th
- PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach meditation classes using proven techniques in a safe and appropriate manner for the 18+ population. Maintain class attendance & turn in a monthly attendance report to the supervisor. Responsible for assisting with the development and teaching of curriculum suited for the class description. Responsible for participant relations and effective communication with participants and staff.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma or GED.
Experience: At least one year of related experience instructing similar courses. Prefer some experience working with the senior population.
Knowledge: Basic knowledge of classroom management, curriculum preparation in subject.
Abilities: Ability to work with the older population, work cooperatively with the other members of the ACAA staff, communicate effectively with class participants,teach & monitor class for proper results, provide prompt, courteous service to the public.
Skills: Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands: Light to moderate physical work, the ability to lift a maximum of 20 pounds; may require some lifting, carrying, walking and standing; occasional hand/eye coordination; vision to ready and interpret written material; frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with class participants and other staff.
Work Environment: Works primarily in clean, comfortable environment. Frequently uses computer keyboard & standard office equipment.
