- Summary of Job Duties
Instructor for Spanish Language classes for 50+ adults participating in classes at the Aurora Center for Active Adults, 30 Del Mar Circle, Aurora, 80011.
- PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The ideal instructor will be fluent in both Spanish and English. As a Spanish teacher, you'll provide instruction in speaking, reading, writing and understanding the Spanish language, as well as lessons in Spanish literature and culture for adult learners. This position is responsible for assisting with the development and teaching of curriculum suited for the class description. Responsible for participant relations and effective communication with participants and staff
Communicate in a timely manner via email or phone, provide a positive atmosphere, maintain good classroom control, take attendance, hand out written materials and keep class informed of current information and schedules, be responsible for on-site communication with recreation center staff and relaying information back to the supervisor. May perform additional duties as assigned
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma or GED.
Experience: At least one year of related experience instructing similar courses. Prefer some experience working with the senior population.
Knowledge: Basic knowledge of classroom management, curriculum preparation in subject. Fluent in both Spanish and English
Abilities: Ability to work with the older population, work cooperatively with the other members of the ACAA staff, communicate effectively with class participants, teach & monitor class for proper results, provide prompt, courteous service to the public.
Skills:Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands: Light to moderate physical work, the ability to lift a maximum of 20 pounds; may require some lifting, carrying, walking and standing; occasional hand/eye coordination; vision to ready and interpret written material; frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with class participants and other staff.
Work Environment:Works primarily in clean, comfortable environment.
Frequently uses computer keyboard & standard office equipment.
