Summary of Job Duties

The city of Aurora is seeking enthusiastic individuals for a career in the Recreation Division. Site Coordinators will be on the front line of operating the City's sponsorship of the Child and Adult Care Food Program, providing youth meals at indoor locations throughout Aurora.

This contingent position will be from the end of August 2018 through May 2019.

This is a continuous position and will be closed when all positions are filled. Applications will be sent to the hiring supervisor once a week for review.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Site Coordinators are responsible for ensuring the Child and Adult Care Food Program, which provides fresh, nutritious meals, as well as enrichment activities, is implemented for children under the age of eighteen, while also ensuring high quality customer service.
Essential duties include:

  • Lead by example to ensure excellent customer service for youth and families participating in the program.
  • Work closely with the Nutrition Recreation Specialist, city staff, and community partners to maintain the Child and Adult Care Food Program. Site Coordinators will provide supper or an evening snack at an assigned indoor city facility.
  • Responsible for the daily set-up, distribution, and clean-up of meals, which are brought in by an outside vendor.
  • Oversee the daily count of meals received, meals consumed, volunteers, and enrichment activities, while staying in compliance with the United State Department of Agriculture, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and Tri-County regulations. Training will be provided.
This position will report to the Nutrition Recreation Specialist to troubleshoot any issues that may arise, including (but not limited to) inclement weather, food related issues, and upset customers

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or equivalent
 
Experience: At least 1 year general clerical experience; prefer heavy customer service experience. Experience working with children preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Knowledge: Knowledge of business, spelling, and basic math; general office equipment and personal computers and related software applications.

Skills: Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required. 

Licenses, Certificates or Equipment Required: Current and valid driver's license. On-site training required. Reliable transportation to work sites is required. This position requires the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
 

Working Conditions

Physical Demands: Primarily physical and active work indoors, requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 30 pounds; frequent and repetitive lifting, carrying, walking and standing to implement program and conduct activities; vision for reading, recording and interpreting information; frequent speech communication with fellow employees, City of Aurora, and Aurora citizens. Must have the ability to participate and lead enrichment activities with children in an indoor setting.

Work Environment: Works primarily indoors at city-owned recreation facilities and/or public buildings (libraries, schools, etc.).

Equipment Used: May use standard office equipment, including: computers, calculators, copy/fax machines; may answer telephone.
